Surfing lessons for schools

There’s no doubt that surfing is a great deal of fun. But it’s also a great excuse to get out in the open air and let off some steam in an exciting – and safe – environment. It can also help to improve children’s confidence, encourages a healthier lifestyle and is a great opportunity for non academic achievers to achieve something brilliant.Dc6395

If you want to offer surfing lessons for your students as part of an after school club, as an option for physical education lessons, as an element of Duke of Edinburgh awards, or as part of an activity week in Bude, North Devon & North Cornwall or the South West, we can help. We can also tie in with North Cornwall District Council Beach Ranger Service to offer an ‘environmental package’ with talks and activities based around the beach environment.

Depending on the general ability of your students we can arrange beginner, improver or intermediate & advanced lessons, all with certificates of achievement. If you don’t know what level they are at then please click here.

To find out more about what your students can expect from our lessons please see our beginnerimprover & advanced sections.

We provide all our students with wetsuits & softboards free of charge. We also have a range of hard boards. Our wetsuits are replaced every season and are guaranteed to keep you warm whatever the weather.  We also require our students to wear high visibility rash vests so we can easily identify them in the water.

We can offer special prices for schools – please call us for more details.

We run morning & afternoon sessions every day.  Of course you can book as many as you like, but one lesson will teach you the basics and should get you to your feet. After that it’s up to you to decide how far you want to go!

Safety firstDSC_2804

Whatever level your students surf at, safety always comes first. That’s why we’ll ask the students’ parents or guardians to fill in a Health & Safety form to let us know about any conditions or anxieties so we can teach them accordingly.

Our maximum class sizes for schools are on a ratio of one coach to eight students although we prefer smaller groups if possible. This ratio has been set by Surfing Great Britain.

If your students are beginners or improvers we will teach them in waist to chest deep water using soft boards. Once they have progressed to a suitable level, (and feel ready), we will take them out of their depth.
