About Big Blue Surf School

Big Blue Surf School is one of the top ‘British Surfing Association Approved’ surf schools in Europe and the UK and has been featured by BBC2, Channel 4, the Sunday Times, the Guardian, FHM and New Woman magazine, amongst others. We offer coaching for beginner to elite surfers of any age*. Based in Bude, North Cornwall, we use some of Britain's top surfing beaches, all of which have been awarded with the prestigious Blue Flag or Seaside Award for cleanliness, safety and water quality and are recommended by the Marine Conservation Society’s “Good Beach Guide”. These beaches are considered, by those in the know, to be amongst the finest surfing breaks in Europe. They provide ideal conditions for surfers of all abilities.

Being a British Surfing Associations elite ‘Level 4 Approved’ Surf School means that we operate to the very highest instructional and safety standards – making sure you receive the best and safest tuition available. Our male and female instructors are all fully qualified and experienced British Surfing Association Coaches and Beach Lifeguards. Our Senior Coach Jon Price is qualified to coach all levels of surfer from beginner to professional. He is also a British Surfing Association Trainer and Examiner of Coaches and coaches the British & English National Teams.

At Big Blue Surf School we offer small group courses, with a maximum ration of eight students to each coach, as well as, intermediate and advanced coaching, personalized one-to-one tuition and Surf Coaching qualifications. Our aim is to improve your surfing as quickly and safely as possible by offering the highest quality surfing tuition, in the safest and most enjoyable way. Our mixture of proven and innovative coaching techniques maximizes the fun and excitement of this exhilarating sport. Unlike many schools, we won’t just give you a few minutes of initial instruction and leave you to it. We offer continuous coaching and personal attention throughout your course, as well as free advice on everything from where to surf to what equipment to buy.
